Back pain is a very common problem faced by people of all ages. For some, it starts after an injury, for some it’s because of age, others are facing it because they are sitting in front of PC all day due to the nature of their job, and the list of reasons just goes on and on.
Whatever might be the reason, back pain can be quite upsetting, and since it’s not a muscle or joint, that you can simply rest, or use every once in a while, you need to do something about the pain and the underlying problem.
In most cases, the pain starts when there’s something wrong with spine. A very slight shuffle in the disc positions can cause severe pain. And this is something; you can’t really treat with medicine. You can take medicine to soothe your pain for the time being, but the disc won’t go back on its own. If you are young, doctors would normally recommend exercise and physiotherapy.
Inversion therapy is a common therapy recommended for people suffering from back pain. The idea is to go upside down (just like you do in handstand), and can also benefit you in many other ways.
However, doing a headstand or handstand is not everybody’s cup of tea. You can’t simply expect someone to successfully attempt a headstand unless you’ve been a fitness freak and doing such exercises for some time.
For those who can’t balance themselves upside down, on their hands or heads, we have inversion tables (while some also suggests gravity boots). The idea behind Inversion table is to use the gravity for decompressing the joints that might result in pain relief.
Inversion tables can be really helpful, as many users have claimed. But the method might not work for everybody. And it is not recommended to go out, get yourself an inversion table, and start trying inversion therapy as soon as you start to suffer from back pain.
How good are inversion tables?
There might be some causes which are not treatable from inversion therapy, and even worse, some of your other ailments might get worse. People with high blood pressure, heart disease, or pregnant ladies must consult with their doctors. In fact, it’s advisable to consult with your doctor to know the underlying problems.
While using inversion table, make sure you are not doing it for prolonged periods because your blood pressure will increase when you stay inverted for a long time. It’s better to do it first time under someone supervision.
Inversion therapy or inversion tables are not an answer to chronic pains. And it’s not a one time treatment. You will have to buy an inversion table and try this therapy for a couple of times on daily basis for some days. Also remember that the pain relief might or might not stay for a long time. Some time the pain might come back.
